Honest Burgers

After a few late nights coming to this place was just what I needed! The boy chose good.
We visited their Soho one but they also have places in Brixton, Camden and Portobello Road.
It’s a simple menu but sometimes that’s the best way. You just have to choose what burger you fancy - chicken, beef or a vegetable option and they all come with Rosemary chips.
The burgers are honest-ly (couldn’t help myself) amazing and tasty enough for me to want to go back again even though London is full of enough places to eat out every night and never have to return to the same place twice. I also think it’s good value for money seeing as you get a decent portion of rosemary chips on the side included. You definitely don’t walk away still feeling hungry.

The place is small so there’s often a little wait but instead of having to queue up like a lot of places you just give them your phone number and they’ll send you a text when they’re ready for you. You can even check what position you are in the queue with a link they text you straight away. It meant me and Cardene could go for a little walk and not have to stand out in the cold.

We both ordered the special (naturally) and I had some of their homemade lemonade which comes in a jar glass and cute stripy straw (it’s the little things)!

We also got some beetroot and apple coleslaw on the side. I'm not a massive fan of coleslaw or beetroot but i really enjoyed it.

The special consisted of a beef burger patty (perfectly cooked to medium), Monterey Jack, chorizo and spring onion rosti, chipotle hot sauce, lime & coriander mayo, lettuce and tomato. What more could you possibly ask for!

Unfortunately I only had my iPhone on me so these aren't the best photo's ever but you get the gist.

Have you ever been to Honest Burgers before?

Easy Healthy Eating - Salmon with Mediterranean Salad

I love to eat and drink what I want around Christmas so I try to be as good as I can up until the end of November (when its my birthday) and then I can indulge for a month without feeling too guilty.
Last year I actually lost a little bit of weight before Christmas so that when I put on the dreaded 'holiday weight' I only went back to what I was before instead of adding to those January blues and all my clothes being that little bit too tight.
So I'm going to post a few healthy meal ideas that are easy and tasty. Gotta balance out all the festive crap I'm going to eat and the ridiculous amounts of mulled wine I'll be drinking!

Salmon with Mediterranean salad

This is a great light meal and so quick and easy. I used a Mexican dry marinade to give the salmon a little extra kick, if you don't have any suitable packets lurking in your cupboards you can simply season with black pepper and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Just pop in some foil, on a baking tray and grill for 10-15mins.

The salad leaves, chopped tomatoes, half a diced red onion and diced pepper can all be mixed together in a salad bowl. I then added the little pot of herb and garlic olives with feta, these little pots are great because I find they have the perfect amount of dressing for the whole salad. You can usually find them in the cheese section of most supermarkets but if you cant you can simply buy feta cheese and olives separately and just use a small amount of extra virgin olive oil to lightly dress the salad.

Then add the avocado and mix into the salad.

There you have it... simple, quick and tastes great.

The Easy Apple Crumble

This recipe is so simple and quick. Plus you only need a few ingredients. Apart from the caramel, this recipe is pretty good for you as there isn't any extra sugar added. If you have a sweet tooth like me you can just add a little custard or ice cream.

What you'll need;

5 Apples (I used ordinary green ones but its your choice) - peeled, cored and cut up
6 tbsp Carnation caramel
100g Porridge oats
100g Plain flour
100g Butter (diced)

- Heat the oven to 200"C.
- Put the apples into a saucepan with a splash of water, cover and cook over a high heat for 4-5 mins, stirring occationally. (Be careful to not cook for too long as they'll go too soft like mine did and it will look more like a sauce!! Still perfectly fine to eat just not quite how it should be)
- Stir in 3 tbsp of the caramel and tip into an oven proof dish.
- Put small spoonfuls of the caramel over the apples until only a spoonful of caramel is left (we'll come back to that last spoonful later).
- Now mix the flour and the porridge oats together, rub in the butter with your fingers until it becomes a crumbly mixture. Stir in the remaining caramel and then cover the apples with the mixture.
- Bake in the oven for 18-20mins until golden and crisp on top.

There you have it... that easy!

Crumble is a perfect autumn dessert and you can so easily adapt this recipe to use different fruit and experiment a bit.

Let me know if you tried this one and what you thought.

Foodies Festival - Feast at Battersea Park

Me and Cardene ventured to Battersea Park Saturday down to the Foodies Festival. There was so much lovely food and drink. I tried to get my hands on it all..

The most amazing chocolate orange cake! I instinctively went for all the sweet things but they were all 'healthier' in some way. Gluten free, organic, natural ingredients but still 100% tasty!

Toffee vodka - this was even a little too sweet for me!

Cocktails made with 100% fresh fruit. The Shack Revolution made amazing cocktails and were lovely people!

Jeans - Diesel | Shirt - River Island | Belt - River Island | Wedges - Select | Bag - Michael Kors

Bracelets - Topshop

This ice cream may look boring but it was ridiculously tasty!! I naturally chose Nutella flavour.

This post has been picture heavy but I feel that sometimes pictures say it all especially when it comes to food.

We had a great time, later that day we went to see West Side Story at Sadlers Wells Theatre and it was amazing!! If you can, get down to see it - its on till 22nd Sept so there's still time. Its one of the best musicals ever and is so good live.

Patty & Bun

I know my previous post was all about healthy eating for good skin but as having a 'balanced' diet also includes having a big fat juicy burger every now and then its all good.

If you live in London and you like burgers then you have to visit Patty & Bun (if you don't like burgers then best not to go as they have very little else on the menu)! Its not new so you may have already enjoyed one of their amazing burgers but I only went for the first time last Friday. It wasn't the best time as it was rather busy and as they can only sit up to 30 (at a squeeze I might add) it meant queueing for a while. The wait was worth it though.... it was delicious! Everything a good burger should be. I had the Smokey Robinson which had caramelised onions, bacon and a smokey BBQ mayo. It looks very pink in the picture but it was cooked perfectly to medium/rare. We also had a portion of their chicken wings and chips with rosemary salt.

Its a 'get stuck in' kind of place so don't expect plates but for fast food that tastes great its well worth a visit. There have been quite a few burger places popping up in London that have a similar concept - gourmet fast food. But I've always heard great things about Patty & Bun which is why I wanted to check them out for myself.

Have you been yet? What did you think?
