30 Day Snap Challenge.... I'm Taking Part!!

30 day snap photo challenge

I'm quite excited to take part in Sprinkle Of Glitter's 30 Day Snap Challenge. Every day in June I will be taking a picture and adding it to this post. I'm new to blogging and thought it would be a great way for people to get to know me a little better and for me to get to know a few of the people taking part a little better... whats not to like! Also as I recently got a new camera it's the perfect excuse to get snapping away and practise my photo skills.

Its definitley a 'more the merrier' kind of thing, so why not join in?! All you have to do is upload one picture a day everyday for the 30 days of June. It can be of anything at all and you can choose to just upload a pic or to also write a little about it.... completely up to you. I'm going to try and make each picture as different as possible so it stays fun and challenging but also keep it about things in my life so each picture has some kind of meaning or story behind it.

Let me know if you're taking part.... not long now :-)

Cookie Cupcakes...

..... with Nutella frosting!

cookie cupcake with Nutella frosting

I made these little beauties this weekend and they tasted delicious. They were really simple and a little different to the usual cookies. I used the following to make a batch of cookie dough;

125g Butter
100g Light brown sugar
125g Castor sugar
1 Egg
1 tsp Vanilla extract
225g Self-raising flour
200g Choc chips (milk, dark or white - whatever you fancy)

- I creamed the butter, light brown sugar and castor sugar together (its a lot easier if the butter is slightly softened). Then mix in the egg and vanilla extract.
- At this point I divided the mixture into two bowls so that in one bowl I could have plain cookie dough with milk choc chips and in the other chocolate cookie dough with white choc chips. If you want to also do that remember to add only 110g of flour to the plain cookie dough bowl and 85g of flour plus 25g of coco powder.
- Sift in the flour and mix in the chocolate chips.
- Roll into balls (about the size of a golf ball) and flatten slightly. Then put them into a 12 cup cake/muffin tray.
- Pop them into a pre-heated oven (180'C) for 10 mins.
- Be sure to leave them to cool in the tray for 10 minutes otherwise they will be too soft to take out in one peice. I used a teaspoon to ease them out of the tray.

Now for the Nutella frosting!!

For this you just need;

Butter (100g)
Icing sugar (280g)
Nutella (40g)

I put the amounts in brackets as these are rough measurements. Everyone is a little different when it comes to how sweet they like it or how 'nutellery'. Best to use it as a rough guide and then do what I do.... keep tasting it a long the way just to be sure it tastes right. If it becomes to runny add more icing sugar if it's too thick add a little drop of milk. Be sure to make the butter as soft as possible (without putting it in the microwave and it turning to liquid) before adding the icing sugar and nutella as this will give the frosting a really creamy texture. I also added chopped nuts on top.

For the vanilla frosting I used a teaspoon of vanilla extract instead of nutella mixed with the butter and icing sugar.

My new beauty find..... nspa

Review of Melting Cleansing Gel by Nirvana Spa (nspa)

Im visiting my mum for a few days and forgot a couple of essentials in the rush to get all my stuff together and packed before work. So I borrowed some of her products and was shocked to find out a few that I fell in love with were from.... ASDA. Yep, thats right the supermarket. Apparently nspa, created by Nirvana Spa, is exclusively available from Asda.

I tried a few products that my mum had and want to tell you about one of my favourites from the range....

The Melting Cleansing Gel (125ml) - £6.00

nspa Melting Cleansing Gel

I have used a similar product from Clarins (Pure Melt Cleansing Gel with Marula Oil) which I really liked but as this nspa product is a fraction of the price of the similar Clarins product I know which one I will be buying next time. It feels great on the skin and also smells lovely. When you first put it on it is a very soft gel that feels like it melts on the skin, once you put a little water onto your face it turns into a cleansing milk which you then rinse away.

My beauty products and make up range from more expensive brands (Dior, Clarins, Nars etc) to less expensive high street brands (Garnier, Neutrogena etc). If I can find products that are more purse friendly but can do what the more expensive products can do i'm all for it. I feel nspa do this perfectly. I will definitely be picking a few products up from this range and cant wait to try more out.

I'm all for 'Against animal testing'!
Currently there is an offer on in Asda to make these products even better value - buy two for £8. Its such a bargain that even if you just want to try them out or need a cheaper alternative until you can afford your more expensive favourite products its well worth it.
